Day 01 USA – San Jose

Upon your arrival to the San Jose’s International Airport, clear customs and immigrations and exit the Airport, a representative from our company will meet you and present you with land portion vouchers. He will provide a private overland transfer to your hotel in San Jose (driving time: 30 minutes approximately).

The capital of Costa Rica, San Jose is located in the heart of the Meseta Central or Central Valley. Day 01-02 San Jose

Day 02 San Jose – Puerto Jimenez

Morning transfer to the local airport to take a flight down to Puerto Jimenez (flying time: 50 minutes approximately). Upon arrival a representative from your hotel will meet you and transfer you to the property (driving time: 30 minutes).

A quiet remote town in the 1960’s, Puerto Jimenez has grown to become one of the largest towns on the Osa Peninsula today. Located in the southern part of the Puntarenas province, this laidback town is one of the main gateways to the beautiful Corcovado National Park. The last town before one can enter the park premises; a main ranger station is situated here with many tourists using this town to stock up on supplies before they trek their way through the gorgeous and diverse wildlife that the Corcovado National Park has to offer. Situated in the Golfo Dulce, Puerto Jimenez has a wonderful beach where one can relax while taking in the superb beauty of the Osa Peninsula.

Day 02-04 Puerto Jimenez

2 nights´ accommodations in Puerto Jimenez at the Lapa Rios Hotel (double bungalow) or similar. (3 daily meals included). Day 03 Puerto Jimenez

Enjoy a tour to the world-famous Corcovado National Park is one of the most biologically rich places on Earth and provides an excellent opportunity to see extremely rare and beautiful wildlife. Accompanied by one of our guides, this tour includes a charter flight into Sirena Biological Station, lunch and transfers to and from Puerto Jimenez. This tour truly provides visitors the chance to see the rainforests of Costa Rica in its most pure and pristine state. Excellent chances of seeing white-lipped peccary, tapir, spider monkeys, white faced cappuchins, squirrel monkeys and howler monkeys. Agoutis, coati-mundi, fresh tracks of jaguars, ocelot, marguay and mountain lion. Toucans, scarlet macaws, great curassow, crested guan, trogons, fierey-billed aracaris, honeycreepers, hummingbirds, herons, egrets, tinamous, parrots, woodpeckers, wood creepers, antbirds, manakins, tanagers, caciques, euphonias, thrushes, hawks and vultures. This is the real JUNGLE. 100,000 acres Corcovado National Park has approximately 375 species of birds, 125 mammals, 50 bats, 131 reptiles and amphibians, 850 trees, 1500 plants and ferns, and more than 6000 insects, bugs and creepy crawlers.

Day 04 Puerto Jimenez – Manuel Antonio

Morning transfer back to the local airstrip to fly to Manuel Antonio (flying time: 40 minutes approx). Upon arrival a representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.

Manuel Antonio is one of the most exclusive areas in Costa Rica, it started out as a tiny village that had a beautiful National Park, Manuel Antonio National Park, next to it. As the park started to become more known more hotels started springing up. Because of Manuel Antonio’s size, or lack of size, hotels started building on the road to Manuel Antonio and many started taking advantage of the magnificent panoramic views. Soon very exclusive hotels arrived, thus bringing us to present day Manuel Antonio. More expensive hotels have loftier, breezy perches and most offer off season rates. Many hilltop hotels may have steep steps; inquire. It can be a tough, hot walk back up the hill from the beach if you don’t want to wait for the bus, however this does run every half hour. The National Park is small only 682 hectares however it epitomizes everything tourists flock to Costa Rica to see: stunning beaches, a magnificent setting with islands offshore, lush rainforest laced with a network of easy to walk trails, and wildlife galore. There is good chance that you will see monkeys (howler, white faced, and possibly squirrel monkeys), sloths, and coatimundis. Scarlet macaws do frequent the area however you may need a bit of luck to see them.

Day 04-07 Manuel Antonio

Day 05 Manuel Antonio

Experience a white water rafting tour at Savegree River. Starting with a 4x4 ride into the “wilds” of Costa Rica’s tropical jungle with breathtaking scenery of more remote areas of the Savegre, your journey begins at “Silencio”. This is a little local village of thatched roof dwellings where you can enjoy a typical Tico breakfast after a “bumpy road” journey, yet before you paddle down the Savegre. Make sure you make your reservations for lunch, and don’t forget to meander through the beautiful flora and fauna of the surrounding African Palm Plantations before you head off into the winding mountains to start the rafting leg of your journey. The Savegre River provides Class II, III and some IV rapids that are manageable in sturdy rafts that accommodate 2 to 6 people comfortably. Our guides stop at locally known swimming spots and breathtaking waterfalls, if the rafters want a break from paddling, and there is always time to enjoy the abundant variety of wildlife along the river. On most trips, rafters will observe egrets, osprey, toucans, parrots, kingfishers, cormorants, and many other species local to this protected area of the tropical rain forest. After a steady 13 mile trip down the river, we wind our way back to the little village of “Silencio” where a gladly awaited hot lunch “Tico Style” and local refreshments are waiting.

Day 06 Manuel Antonio

Enjoy a guided visit to the Manuel Antonio National Park, the pace of this adventure is determined by your group’s abilities and interests, and the abundance of wildlife you want to stop, observe, or learn about – all in its natural and breathtaking habitat. Watch sloths and numerous species of monkeys travel through the tree canopy, hunt for nocturnal silky anteaters and several types of monkeys or iguanas resting in the tropical rain forest, and listen to the songs of the various birds as they glide above your group, curiously looking for
adventure. And if you are lucky, you might spot one of the only 1,000 remaining endangered Mono Titi or squirrel monkey, which live in only one location in the world, in our Manuel Antonio National Park biological corridor. See how many different kinds of flora and fauna you can spot just in the span of a 2 ½ hour nature walk or hike. And at the end, enjoy some local fresh fruits and refreshments as you pause to savor your adventure thus far. If you so desire, hike additionally through the trails and enjoy unspoiled, un-crowded, pristine beaches after your guided educational adventure ends, and maybe even snorkel after the hike on your own. Learn about the history of the Quepoa Indians and Costa Rica’s past in regard to this stunningly beautiful Manuel Antonio area, and come back with ideas as to how to help preserve this priceless ecosystem and national treasure for generations to come.

Day 07 Manuel Antonio – San Jose

Free morning to explore the area on your own or just relax taking advantage of the hotel facilities. In the afternoon a private overland transfer will take you back to the central valley (driving time: 3 hours approx).

Day 07-08 San Jose

1 night´s accommodations in the San Jose outskirts at the Xandary Plantation Hotel (double prima) or similar (breakfast included).
