Our week in Costa Rica was a pleasure. The accommodations were excellent and we managed to take a different trip almost every day -- kayaking, white water rafting, scuba diving, etc.

In La Fortuna we stayed at Arenal Kioro and in Quepos we stayed at Tulemar. These were both excellent facilities overall, with good accommodations, friendly staff and reasonable prices. The food in both places was just average but certainly acceptable. The setting of Kioro was spectacular, with its flower gardens and location at the base of the volcano's lava field. A big advantage of Tulemar is direct access to the beach.

We spent very little time in San Jose but did manage to get to the museum, where there was a wonderful exhibit of pre-Columbian crafts, especially featuring works in gold. Very impressive and informative.

The cost of the air travel was well worth the saving in time since we only had a week.
We have talked about returning in the future. Next time we would probably like to go to the Caribbean coast.
